Please read these Terms carefully. By creating an account or using Catena, you agree to be bound by these Terms. These Terms include an agreement to resolve disputes through binding arbitration, and a waiver of class actions, in Section 11 (Disclaimers, Liability, and Disputes). You may opt out of arbitration within 30 days of creating your account — see “30-Day Right to Opt Out of Arbitration” in Section 11.
Catena is a gamified focus and productivity app developed by Julienne Studios, Inc., a Delaware corporation (“we,” “us,” or “Company”). These Terms and Conditions (“Terms”) govern your use of the Catena mobile application and any related services (the “Service”). Our Privacy Policy is incorporated into these Terms by reference.
The Service is currently available to users located in the United States only.

You must be at least 13 years old to use Catena. By using the Service you represent that you meet this requirement. The Service is not directed to children under 13 — if we learn a user is under 13 we will delete their account and data promptly.
If you are between 13 and 17 years old, you may use Catena only with the permission of a parent or legal guardian, and by using the Service you represent that you have that permission. A parent or guardian who consents to a minor’s use of Catena agrees to these Terms on that minor’s behalf and is responsible for the minor’s activity on the Service.
Where required by applicable law, we will obtain verifiable parental consent before permitting a minor to create or continue using an account, and we may rely on age category signals, parental-consent confirmations, or age-assurance mechanisms provided by Apple, Google, or another verification provider to determine a user’s age category and consent status. We may ask you to re-confirm your age or your parent’s consent at any time, and we may limit, suspend, or delete an account if we cannot verify eligibility.
We may restrict or disable certain features for accounts we know or believe to belong to a minor — including public leaderboards, display-name and profile-image sharing, milestone sharing, and Café Partner reward redemption — where we determine that doing so is appropriate or is required by law.
You must provide accurate and complete information when creating your account and keep it updated. You are responsible for all activity that occurs under your account and for keeping your login credentials confidential. Notify us immediately at team@juliennestudios.com if you suspect unauthorized use of your account.
Accounts are personal and non-transferable. You may not share, sell, or transfer your account, or create multiple accounts to exploit gamification features such as streaks or leaderboards.
Catena is available as a free tier and a paid tier (“Catena Pro”). Features available in each tier are described in the app and at juliennestudios.com. We reserve the right to change what is included in each tier with reasonable notice to existing subscribers.
Catena Pro is billed in advance on a recurring basis (monthly or annually) depending on your selected plan. Your subscription automatically renews at the end of each period unless you cancel before renewal.
Cancel anytime through your app store account settings or in the Catena app. Cancellation takes effect at the end of your current billing period — you keep Pro access until then. We do not offer prorated refunds for partial periods.
We may change subscription pricing. We will give you at least 30 days’ notice before a price change takes effect. Continued use after the change means you accept the new price.
Subscription fees are generally non-refundable. You may request a refund within 14 days of your initial subscription if you have not materially used Pro features — email team@juliennestudios.com. App store purchases are subject to Apple’s or Google’s refund policies.
Payments are processed by Apple (App Store), Google (Play Store), or Stripe (web). We do not store your payment card details. We assume no liability for payments processed by these third parties.
Catena may offer in-app rewards that unlock real-world perks at participating café partners (“Café Partners”), such as a QR code redeemable for a discounted drink in person.
Café Partner offers are provided by the Café Partner, not by Julienne Studios. We do not guarantee that any particular offer will be available, honored, or remain unchanged. Café Partners may modify or discontinue their offers at any time without notice to us.
QR codes and other reward codes are single-use, non-transferable, have no cash value, and cannot be combined with other offers unless the Café Partner states otherwise. Codes expire as indicated in the app. We are not responsible if a Café Partner fails to honor a reward.
Julienne Studios is not a party to any transaction between you and a Café Partner. Any dispute about a reward — including refusal to honor a code, product quality, or in-person experience — is between you and the Café Partner. We assume no liability for any such disputes.
These Terms are between you and Julienne Studios only — not Apple or Google.
If you downloaded Catena from the Apple App Store: your license is limited to Apple-branded devices you own or control; Apple has no obligation to provide support or maintenance; Apple is not responsible for warranties — refund requests go to Apple; Julienne Studios (not Apple) is responsible for product liability, regulatory compliance, and IP infringement claims; Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these Terms. You represent you are not in an embargoed country or on a U.S. Government restricted party list.
If you downloaded Catena from Google Play: these Terms are between you and Julienne Studios only; your use must comply with Google Play’s Terms of Service; Google has no liability to you regarding Catena; Google is a third-party beneficiary of these Terms as it relates to the Google Play version.
We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to use Catena on your devices solely for your own personal, non-commercial productivity purposes.
You may not copy, modify, distribute, sell, or lease any part of the Service. You may not reverse engineer the software or use the Service to build a competing product. All rights not expressly granted are reserved by Julienne Studios.
Catena may allow you to set display names, upload profile images, customize your café, and share focus milestones (“User Content”). You own your User Content and are responsible for it.
By posting User Content you grant us a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to host and display it solely to operate the Service. This license ends when you delete your content or your account.
We may remove User Content that violates these Terms. Any feedback or suggestions you send us may be used by us without obligation or compensation to you.

All content in Catena — artwork, soundtracks, UI, branding, and software — is owned by or licensed to Julienne Studios and protected by copyright, trademark, and other laws. “Catena” and “Julienne Studios” are our trademarks and may not be used without our written permission.
If you believe content on Catena infringes your copyright, send a DMCA notice to team@juliennestudios.com with: your signature, identification of the work and the infringing material, your contact info, a good faith statement, and a statement under penalty of perjury. We will terminate accounts of repeat infringers.
THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED “AS IS” AND “AS AVAILABLE” WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND. WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT THE SERVICE WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED, ERROR-FREE, OR THAT YOUR DATA, STREAKS, PROGRESS, OR REWARD CODES WILL NEVER BE LOST OR EXPIRE UNEXPECTEDLY.
TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, JULIENNE STUDIOS SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, OR CONSEQUENTIAL DAMAGES. OUR TOTAL LIABILITY FOR ANY CLAIM SHALL NOT EXCEED THE GREATER OF THE AMOUNT YOU PAID US IN THE PRIOR 12 MONTHS OR $100 USD.
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Julienne Studios and its affiliates from any claims, damages, or expenses (including attorneys’ fees) arising from your use of the Service, your User Content, or your violation of these Terms.
Any dispute arising from these Terms or the Service — except claims eligible for small claims court — will be resolved by binding arbitration under AAA Consumer Arbitration Rules. Contact us first at team@juliennestudios.com and give us 30 days to resolve the issue informally before initiating arbitration.
You may opt out of the Binding Arbitration and No Class Actions provisions of these Terms. To opt out, send written notice to team@juliennestudios.com with the subject line “Arbitration Opt-Out” within 30 days after you first create your Catena account. Your notice must include your full name, the email address associated with your account, and a clear statement that you want to opt out of arbitration.
Opting out is free, will not affect any other part of these Terms, and will not affect your access to the Service in any way. If you opt out, any dispute between you and Julienne Studios will be resolved in the courts identified under Governing Law below. If you do not opt out within the 30-day window, you agree to resolve disputes through arbitration on an individual basis.
UNLESS YOU OPT OUT AS DESCRIBED ABOVE, YOU AND JULIENNE STUDIOS AGREE TO BRING CLAIMS ONLY ON AN INDIVIDUAL BASIS. NO CLASS ACTIONS OR REPRESENTATIVE PROCEEDINGS ARE PERMITTED.
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Delaware. For matters not subject to arbitration, you consent to jurisdiction in Delaware courts.
You may delete your account at any time using the account deletion flow inside the Catena app. For your security, we can process account deletion requests only through the app, because deleting from within your logged-in account is how we verify that you are the account holder. We cannot delete an account based on an emailed request alone. If you are unable to access the app or your account, email team@juliennestudios.com and we will help you regain access so you can complete the deletion yourself.
Deletion is permanent and removes all café progress, streaks, focus history, profile information, and any unused reward codes. For details on how long deletion takes and what happens to your data during that period, see Section 4 (Data Retention) of our Privacy Policy.
We may suspend or terminate your account at any time for violation of these Terms or for any other reason, with or without notice. Sections 10, 11, and 13 survive termination.
Changes. We may update these Terms at any time. For material changes we will provide at least 14 days’ notice in-app or by email. Continued use after changes take effect means you accept the updated Terms.
Entire Agreement. These Terms and the Privacy Policy are the complete agreement between you and Julienne Studios regarding the Service.
Severability. If any provision is unenforceable, it is modified to the minimum extent necessary. If it cannot be modified, it is severed and the rest stays in effect.
No Waiver. Failure to enforce any right is not a waiver of that right.
Assignment. You may not assign these Terms. We may assign them to a successor entity.
